Can boating get more beautiful than this?

My wife and sons gave me the best Father’s Day present I could have hoped for — a day on Lake Dillon. Lake Dillon is located just outside of Breckenridge Colorado and has incredible views. Mountain vistas and islands within the lake make this an ideal place for boating.

Renting a boat on Lake Dillon is surprisingly inexpensive. Our 2 hour rental set us back $115. The boat is an 18 foot runabout, perfect size for 4 people.

We cruised around the lake listening to my favorite album (Lucky Old Sun by Kenny Chesney) and my boys and I enjoyed a cigar.

We watched as the sailboats raced around the lake and enjoyed a picnic lunch on the water. It was a great day.

Memorial Weekend in Keystone and Breckenridge Colorado

Keystone and Breckenridge Colorado

We started our 3 month vacation by visiting our boys in Fort Collins, Colorado.  After a day in Fort Collins, we headed out for Keystone for the Memorial weekend.

Keystone

As you can see, the snow is just about gone in Keystone.  Now the mountain bikers are starting to enjoy the mountain.  You can take your bike to the top of the mountain using the gondola and bike down.

I was surprised that Keystone was so dead — not a lot of people there.  But the weather was nice (about 65 degrees) and we enjoyed walking around Keystone Village.

Cameron and I rode bikes around Keystone, they have great trails.  We came flying down a hill and over a bridge and Cameron popped both bike tires.  Too funny!

We also caught a couple of movies while in Keystone.  We saw The Great Gatsby and the new Star Trek movies.  Both were excellent.

On Sunday we hiked a trail overlooking Lake Dillon.  Our dog Katie loved the hike.

After hiking, we drove over to Breckenridge to hang out. There were a lot more people in Breckenridge than in Keystone.

It was great hanging out with the boys for the weekend, we are now off to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.
